Ratanakiri is derived from the Sanskrit words Ratna and Giri, which combine to mean a mountain of stones precious.
Rattanakiri province border in the mountainous northeastern Cambodia that borders Laos to the North, the Viet Nam to the East, it extends the annamitique mountains in the North, over a plateau between the Tonle San and Tonle Srepok rivers.
Rattanakiri has plenty of natural and cultural treasures waiting to be discovered. Its capital is the city of Banlung, located in the Highlands of the province, at approximately 365 Km of Phnom Penh.
It has the most striking landscape and in the region is home to several institutions of hilltribes of ethics. among the many picturesque natural sites are Lake volcanic clear Yeak Laom, gentle waterfalls incredible, the fauna and flora exotic.
Unlike the opulence of our days, the province remains largely intact, as the majority of the population. Rattanak Kiri is made up of ethnic minority groups living in harmony with nature.
Most of the visitors of Rattanak Kiri choose to base themselves in the Banlung town where excursions can be arranged to visit the Khmer Loeu villages and an array of natural sites.

Beung Yeak Laom:
is a place of worship for the tribes Hill and very popular to tourists who like to swim or go hiking in the forest surrounding the Lake.
The Lake is located approximately 5 kilometres south of the provincial town of Ban Loung, in a mountain, approximately 800 metres in diameter and 48 metres deep during the dry season. The water is clear and suitable for bathing.
Cascade Cha Ong:
is 2 kilometres west of the provincial city of Ban Loung. The waterfall gets its water from Phnom Eysei Patamak or Phnom Svay near the provincial town of Ban Loung.Une mountain slope leads visitors to the bottom of the waterfall, where they can sit in a cave and enjoy the view.
The cascade Ka Chanh:
is 6 kilometres south-east of the provincial city of Ban Loung. The waterfall is 12 metres high and is fed year-round by Teung Kan canal. There are a number of plantations of picturesque rubber the Canal leading to the waterfall. The base of the waterfall, which is a great place for picnics, can be reached by climbing a staircase wood of 72 steps.
Lumphat natural reserve:
is located 37 km south of Banlung, with an area of 250 000 ha. There are different types of animals and birds such as Tigers, elephants, red-headed vultures. Countless tourists urge this place every year, to discover and appreciate wildlife richness, the prospects for eco-tourism and tribal villages.
Kabat Norng forest:
is one of the splendid tourist attractions in Ratanakiri, which attracts tens of thousands of travellers throughout the year. Kabat Norng forest is about 23 kilometres north of Banlung to Ratanakiri. Kabat Norng Ratanakiri forest is home to a beautiful pond, which is attended by magnificent birds and animals.
