The chinese new year and Vietnamese(the Têt) are feasts by a part of the population. Some shops are closed during this period.

Year khmer lasted three days. The home must be clean. They clean and decorate to mark the arrival of the New Angel, Thevada. These three days are public holidays for the students, the officials and the people.
-On the first day, "moha Sankrant" is the day of the arrival of the new Thevada .
-On the second day, "Vanapat" , is the day of gifts. They are building mounds of sand to the pagoda.
-The third day, "Loe sak" (moving from the old to the new year). The new year starts from this third day.
It is the end of the dry season.

Feast of the Sacred path (Chrat preah Nongkâl) opens the rainy season (season of agricultural work).
Each year ,Phnom Penh organized to celebrate the feast of Chrat preah Nongkâl which will take place on 12 May .
The king Sihanouk has now resumed the tradition in Battambang, 11 mai 1963.
It is a tradition millennium which had fallen into disuse since the reign of Ang duong (1845-1859).
