Battambang is the second city of Cambodia after Phnom Penh was founded in the 11th century, is located in the heart of Northwest Cambodia's border with the Thailand. This is the main producing province of rice in the country and Buddhist shrines.

The name Battambang or Batdambang, literally means "loss of stick" referring to a legend of Preah Bat Dambang Kranhoung.
This "lost stick" would have belonged to one of the fallers, who worked in the forest, wanted to Cook rice but had no spoon. He picked up a branch of Rokar as utensil and when he mixed his rice, it became black. As he was hungry he decided to eat it and as soon as his meal ends, he felt invaded a great power. He was able to break a branch of Cheutal and he then cut the trunk of a Kranhoung, a tree whose wood is deemed as hard as iron. This trunk, he is made a weapon, which won him the nickname of Dambang Kranhoung (Kranhoung stick). Before such power, he formed an army to capture the throne with his stick.

Vat EK Phnom :
Wat ek Phnom is a Hindu temple whose construction started in 1027 during the Bayon period, during the reign of Suryavarman
